Vacation
so where have i been? here and there. if you know me, then you know i like to travel...i have drove to the east and west coast many times, but since i went to college i either fly or take road trips as far as new orleans or dallas... thank God for my laptop and my palm pilot or i would feel so disconnected on weekend trips. anyway the day after i got done with finals we played a show at zero’s and i bought life 5 cases of beer. its safe to say that i don’t remember much of that night. the band played at a small place called the texan like the next weekend.... the next day traci and i went to see the nutcracker down here in corpus. that week was christmas so i spent most of my time at home with the family.
Roadtrip
so two days after Christmas we had a show in Austin... i knew it was an early show, so i took off early that day./ my sister from san Antonio was down for the week, and her oldest kid wanted to go home. so my first stop was in SA, where we had to wait for her father to come home since she didn’t have a key. after that we headed to Austin where it was still really early. we went to some stores, and i took traci down 37/38 st to see that one street that is all lit up with Christmas lights... it look so cool this year. after that we went up north at at the Chuy’s off of 183 by where i use to live. after that we took 360 down to Westlake and headed downtown to 6th street. I found a parking spot no prob. w/. my handicap sticker and we headed to the venue. i ran into Rene and some of the gang at Dominick’s pizza on 6th street. we headed towards the venue after everyone munched on some pizza. the show was at Flamingo Cantina which is right next door to one of my favorite places Casino el Camino . The show was alright. i watched a few bands and our band play. the band after us had this crazy lady who stripped completely naked and was playing with herself on stage. after that band was over, Rose and i headed to the aquarium for dollar beers since it was Thursday. after that i went back to venue, picked up Traci, and headed home. she had to work like at 8 am...
after Traci got out of work we packed up our stuff and headed back to SA... it was late afternoon by the time we got into SA and headed to my uncles house. we stayed there for a few hours and then decided to go downtown to get something to eat. since it was Christmas time still, Traci wanted to go down to the river walk to see all the lights and stuff. when i got down there i looked for parking for like 25 minutes. all the lots where full and charged over $10... i finally found an empty one that was cheap... we walked down the Riverwalk and decided to eat at my favorite restaurant in SA, which is Casa Rio . the wait was over an hour so we walked up and down while we waited for our table. the alamo bowlwas the next day so everyone from Texas tech and Iowa where downtown and getting drunk and going crazy... the UT game (holiday bowl) was on TV while we where waiting, so a lot of the bars down there where showing it. WE WON... #5 in the nation baby...
(i wrote this 4 weeks ago... let me try to pick back up)
anyway, Traci and i went to Austin the next day and check in to the Carringtons Bluff bed and breakfast. it is a really pretty and romantic place that is owned by the people who own the governors inn... we went to lunch at hula hut , and then went shopping around the area. i took her to places like toy joy which is my favorite toy store in austin, and we went down the drag to other plcaes like urban outfitters , and after that we went to the movies to finally see The Royal Tenenbaums (which i have now seen three times) because they had not released it in corpus yet. anyway we went back to the b&b and then are dinner at Trudy’s. and a couple of drinks before we downtown for the rest of the night.. after that we went to see the Old 97’s at La Zona Rosa and i have to say it was there best show i have seen out of the last 6 or 7 times i have seen them. i hung out with matt hubner and his cousin later that night, and went to the outlet malls the next day before returning home.

BIG NEWS... no one really knows this, but i was allowed to be on the nominating committee for the Bubakar Awards... i think that is really cool, because the nominating committee is very small, and this award ceremony is like the Anti-Oscars. the bubakar awards is nationally recognized and has gotten a lot of media coverage in recent years. oscarwatch.com just mentioned it yesterday. anyway to vote (please vote) click here Voting begins on February 1st and runs through the 28th. The winners will be named at The Bubakar Awards Gala, a fundraiser for Horizon House on March 24th at 5:30 pm at P.S. O'Rourke's, next to Castleton Arts Theatre in Indianapolis
