(my adventure with the band Freestate)
... just got back from a long 3 day trip, and damn if i’m tired. it started friday morning, where i took off with my friend rene (the drummer) at his house. we then went to san antonio to pick up Gab (guitar) who was flying in from vegas. of course we all got lost at the airport and where already 2 hours late because of delays in corpus. after we found gab, playing video games, we went around san antonio buying some stuff, and met up with my mom and the rest of the band on 35. we gave my mom the truck (my sister was in a car accident, so my mom was in SA the last 2 weeks taken care of her) and took of with the rest of the band matt, hector, and saul. we had rented a U-hual and it was attached to Saul’s explorer... by the time we made it to fort worth, it had been 12 hours, and like $100 in gas. we checked out the venue, got a room, and went back to the venue, dirty pirches. the show was fun, and we met up with some of the guys parents, girlfriends, and some friends the area (kristy and vanessa). the other bands that played where rezn and deadflow from the dfw area. after the show we went back to our rooms and hung out... the next day, we woke up real early to set again. we went to the super target, got breakfast somewhere, and went back on the road. we went to austin, where we ate, gased up, and met up w/ one of renes friends for a few minutes. we then made our way through san antonio again, and down to laredo. after about an hour in laredo, like 10 hours on the road, we finally made to the venue called the roundup. we went to sal’s piza place 1st on accident, and they offered us a place to play for the night. that was pretty cool of them. anyway roundup is 3 clubs in one with an outdoor part, where the bands played. one band was there when we got there. there was a total of 4 bands playing that night, freestate, faceplant from houston , enkindle crown from austin, and wolftekit from laredo. since they had all played there 1st, freestate went on 1st. that gave us a chance to unload, setup, and have some 75 cent beers before the show. the sound guy sucked and jacked up all of our shit. the band sucked major, because of this. anyway we hung out there and watched the other bands. they where all really good. anyway, after hours of struggle, and the help of eric from wolftekit, hector from freestate, the mexicans from the roundup, anna from the motel, and the security guard sal, we got a room, and so did all the other bands next door at motel 6. after the show, i went to check out the room and see where it was at. on the way walking over, i was approached by a young lady (jennifer) who asked if i was alone. i told her the 411, and she then offered me various sexual acts for a variety of prices. lets leave that part alone... the other guys met up, and we found that the a/c was not working right in room. i called up anna, who had helped me already, and she sent sal the security guard to check it out. he hooked us up with another room, and gave me a skeleton key to open every room in the hotel. hector and i tipped him some money. which he probably used on another working girl who had been walking around the place. anyway, we partied out, met everyone from the other bands, and has a good time. lot of stuff happened, but to long to tell. and better to tell in person. went to sleep at 7, and woke up at 11. ate breakfast at danny’s next door, and made are way home. which took forever. all in all, we went to 5 major cities, met 50 new friends, slept 5-10 hours, got $5 stolen for beer at 6 in the morning, met 2 prostitutes, 100 people who could not speak english, saw 5 new bands, drank 20 beers, coughed 1000 times (having surgery for that aug. 16th. i swear), took 0 pictures, gassed up like 12 times, drank 7 bottles of water, and had a fucking good time.... other news. hey i got a new webpage. more like made one. same address. added the poetry page so check it out. going to add a new picture page, when i can get my hands on a scanner. well, got a calculus test in a few hours, a project due the next day, then the 4th, the finals the next day, and so on and so on. another show this weekend at zero;s. check it out. hope this makes sense. will add more stuff and plan to change a lot around in the next few weeks to years. email me with suggestions. the thingy doesn't work yet for comments.
